Prepare to leave early for evacuations

Essentials

Keep your vehicle filled with gas or fully charged if electric, and plan early transportation if you do not drive.

Pack medications, mobile phones and laptops with charging cords, important documents (like IDs, insurance information, birth certificates), contact lists, a first-aid kit, flashlight, battery-powered radio, pillows and blankets, and extra batteries.

Clothing and personal items

Include a change of clothes for each family member, sturdy shoes, and personal hygiene items.

Food and water

Pack non-perishable food and water for a few days.

Pet supplies

If you have pets, pack food, water, carriers, leashes, and any necessary medications.

Valuables

Pack essential valuables like credit cards, cash, and irreplaceable items, like family photos.

Leaving home

If you have time, turn off the gas, electricity, and water and disconnect appliances.

Lock your doors when leaving.

Follow directions from authorities.

Donations

While Garfield County appreciates a giving spirit, we currently do not have need for donations. The Incident Management Team provides all needs for firefighting teams, and cannot accept donations while fighting fires.
