A student or staff member at Basalt Middle School has tested positive for COVID-19. Families of students who may have been exposed and need to quarantine have been contacted directly. The entire 8th grade class will begin distance learning with online classes starting immediately on Friday, April 9 and continuing through Monday, April 12. Students will return to in-person classes on Tuesday, April 13. Sports practices and games are canceled April 8 and 9 and resume Monday, April 12 after 3:15pm.

The affected areas in the school will be deep cleaned and disinfected prior to the return of non-impacted students and staff. Students in grades 5-7 will remain in normal session.
