A student or staff member at Basalt Middle School is a probable positive for COVID-19 based on the individual’s symptoms. Families of students who may have been exposed and need to quarantine have been contacted directly. The entire 8th grade class will begin distance learning with no school tomorrow and online classes starting Thursday, February 4. They will return to in-person classes on Tuesday, February 9th.

Eighth grade boys basketball practice, as well as their games on Wednesday, February 3 against Riverview and Monday, February 8 against Aspen, have been cancelled. Practice will resume on Tuesday, February 9. 

The affected areas in the school will be deep cleaned and disinfected prior to the return of non-impacted students and staff. Students in grades 5-7 will remain in normal session.
