Garfield County Public Health is putting out this information, as we are receiving numerous messages in regard to hosting or postponing public events and gatherings.
As of 5 p.m. March 9, 2020, there are no known COVID-19 cases in Garfield County and no known community transmission.
With the information we have currently, and known disease activity in surrounding counties, Garfield County Public Health is encouraging organizations to consider postponing or canceling nonessential gatherings. However, each individual organization should make the final decision that best suits your situation.
If you are planning an event, check out this CDC planning guide:
Consider your audience: will event attendees be comprised of older adults or people with severe underlying health conditions? These populations are most susceptible to COVID-19 exposure.
If you are sick, do not attend community events or work, and limit public exposure.
Once there is identified community transmission of COVID-19, these recommendations are subject to change.
